The next Black Rhino Residency nods at bass music’s culture and surroundings. For Saturday, April 18, we team up with Outlook Festival and put together a lineup covering both rooms of the club, sharing music from some of the rising artists in the scene.
In celebration of this culture, we are happy to announce a conference preceding the club night.
Codin Oraseanu and Matei Ardeleanu will discuss with Neffa-T, Jay Carder, Rishi (programming for Outlook Festival), Batki (DJ and Outlook festival crew member), Bogdan Iosifescu (Riddim Bandits Sound System) on changes in bass music, the new generation of artists, curation and selection of artists for Outlook Festival, sound system culture, promotion, and more.
NEFFA-T
Connected to underground music through a deep respect and ever-growing love for his craft, Neffa-T’s relationship with DJing remains both an essential form of self-expression and a way to connect with others.
With over 18 years of experience, he continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible within the art of mixing; a journey showcased in his Technical Mix series, launched in 2018. This path recently led to his most ambitious work to date: the world’s first documented 8 Deck Technical Mix. Spanning over 80 minutes, the project marks a personal milestone in balancing perfectionism with dedication. “I think I’ll always be a perfectionist at heart, but for me this mix signifies no longer being fuelled by pain and upset”.
With each project, Neffa-T continues to merge technical precision with fearless creativity. Whether behind the decks, on the airwaves, or in the studio, his work reflects a relentless pursuit of the next idea and a dedication to building genuine connections through music.
JAY CARDER
Jay Carder’s genre-warping approach to DJing and producing has made waves over the past decade, blending UK techno, bass, dubstep, jungle, footwork and more with ease.
Holding down a regular slot on Rinse FM, and performing everywhere from Glastonbury and Fu-sion Festival to Canada’s seminal Bass Coast, her fluid sets and intoxicatingly positive energy are in increasingly high demand.
Co-founder of Erbium Records, which saw its twentieth release and fifth birthday in 2025, she's also had her fair share of personal releases on forward-thinking labels such as Obligated and Wis-dom Teeth. Her contribution to the latter’s Club Moss compilation, “Mekosha”, drew comparison from RA to late-era Aphex Twin.
Other labels include Neighbourhood and Earful of Wax, and her first EP 'Entropy' on Faux Poly is still building steady listenership, most notably for the lead track 'Eva's Stoned', which saw support from the likes of Martyn, dBridge, Jossy Mitsu and gained plays across Rinse, NTS and various underground platforms as well as Radio 1 and 6Music, where Mary Anne Hobbs playlisted it on multiple occasions.
RISHI
Enveloped by music from their childhood, RISHI has single-handedly carved a space for themself in the UK underground music industry as a multi-disciplinary force. Beginning their journey in Bristol by curating, promoting and DJing parties 6 years ago, they’ve gradually garnered a community of playful yet headsy listeners.
RISHI’s personal DJ style is aggressively fluid & multi-genre, being regularly inspired by the interpolations of UK bass music across the world. As a curator, DJ or listener, RISHI is dedicated to building bridges across countries, cultures, and genres—uniting sound and spirit.
Nowadays, RISHI explores their curation by being the Lead on Outlook Festival, the main DJ/electronic booker on We Out Here Festival & their trailblazing parties under the Brown Excellence brand.
BATKI
Working in the background of some of your favourite festivals for over 10 years, Batki is immersed in music and has plenty of it to share. In her sets, she loves exploring the intersections between different genres, and what ties them together is often a percussive, bassy, melodic and uplifting sound.
You can expect to hear some dub, dubstep, chuggy house, electro, breaks, or anything in between. So far in her journey, she has played at festivals such as Outlook, Dimensions, We Out Here, Hospitality on The Beach, Membrain, as well as in some of London’s busiest venues like Night Tales and NT’s Loft.
