The Beat Conductor

This episode of Beat Conductor comes as a warm-up for Black Rhino Radio Residency at Club Control on the 15th of October. Long-time friend and collaborator, Boogie is a true bass music lover with a solid background in drum and bass, reggae, and jungle. He’s  been in the game for years, putting his soul and energy into promoting a sound made to move souls and feet. It’s only natural for him to show support with a special jungle music set.

We asked Boogie: "How do you see the difference between jungle music and drum and bass?"

Mighty Boogie: ”Jungle and Drum and Bass are like a Father & Son relationship. Like a family living in a big villa with plenty of smaller rooms. Jungle came first, driven by chopped-up amen breaks incorporating influences from other genres like breakbeat, hardcore, reggae, and dancehall. In contrast, drum and bass came after, with a more technical expression.”
