Tetrad is the dubstep and bass music project of L.A.-based musician, producer, songwriter, and DJ Cheyne Bush. A lifelong musician, Cheyne gained experience as a young saxophonist and guitarist in punk, metalcore, jazz, and ska bands. Eventually, he turned to electronic music when he started experimenting with music software and DAWs such as Ableton Live and discovered artists such as Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Autechre and eventually dubstep, in the form of Burial and Shackleton. Discovering the Hyperdub and Skull Disco artists, as well as the early DMZ, Deep Medi, and Chestplate releases, instilled a shift towards this new musical direction.
In 2015, Cheyne started to record solo as Tetrad and in the years since, has released a clutch of deep and weighty dubstep tunes, solo and on compilations, digitally and on vinyl, on prestigious labels like ZamZam Sounds, Deep Dark and Dangerous, Moonshine Recordings, Silent Motion, and Instigate Recordings among many others. He has collaborated with numerous artists from around the globe, including Oxossi, Headland, and most prolifically with his brother Dillon Bush, under his notorious moniker Ahkur.
His most recent offerings include the Worldwide Dub EP with Foundation Audio released last year, his third release with the Bristol imprint, with support from artists such as The Greys, Chad Dubs, and Raikov, as well as two tracks coming out on compilations for Foundation Audio and After Dark Music respectively. Cheyne's dedication to producing forward-thinking and expressive dubstep is long-standing and his longevity is a testament to this.
