Maria is an architect. Having been born and raised in a Bucharest flat, educated at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, in a small Swiss village weekly escaped from by train, responsible for the project of the Olympic Museum’s extension in Lausanne, within the Brauen + Walechli studio, teaching Urban Experience to architecture and public administration students, Maria’s professional and personal trail is shaped by the search for comprehending public space. In 2016, together with Raluca Niculae, Ștefan Hillerin, Alexandru Belenyi, and Matei Bogoescu, she founded BAZA. Deschidem orașul, an NGO and studio dedicated to connecting young professionals of Bucharest, conducting urban research and promoting Little Improvements through architectural and artistic interventions, workshops, events, conferences, publishing, podcasts. Since then, BAZA has been steadily growing, both in numbers – Irina Belenyi joined us, and in projects and stories: www.debaza.ro.
