First 2018's session of our Artist in Residence programme brings together Esqu, Brusten and Vapor. A joint venture between the hip hop sound of Esqu, the drum and bass influence of Brusten and the fast and sharp rhymes of Mc Vapor. Each residency aims to promote the process of collaboration, producing and recording a song. It interests us how artists work and negotiate musical ideas in order to reach a common goal. We are happy to present you the result of this session by introducing the song Devious. You can listen the full track on Soundcloud and watch the documented video of this residency on YouTube. The video version also features interviews with the artists.
Words about Esqu:
Esqu is a 25 year old Romanian electronic music producer currently living in Bucharest. His style is strongly influenced by hip hop but his music is full of elements coming all over the musical genre. At the moment,Esqu is one half of the duo project called OHMYGOD, alongside his fellow producer Gypsy Mamba (LA, USA). They are expecting the release of their first album, "Hurry up and wait", which will be out this year in both digital and vinyl format at Alpha Pup Records. In conversation with AlgiersAndrei Bucureci - Feb 01, 2019
Algiers is an experimental American band from Atlanta, Georgia, that labels it’s sound as dystopian soul. This is a transcontinental affair as the project’s members met and played together in the United States but the band was officially formed in London. Their African country name evokes the anti-colonial struggle, symbolizing a contested space where violence, racism, resistance and religion commingle.
