First release for 2019 at our Artist in Residence program is featuring a live recording with the band Cardinal. Formed in 2015 on the shores of the Black Sea in Constanta, Romania, their style has been compared to Queens of the Stone Age or Mars Red Sky – yet nobody has quite pinned them down. And maybe this is a good thing. The buzzwords on their show posters usually include “garage”, “stoner”, “psych”, and “fuzz” – but that is up to you to see at one of their shows.
Each residency aims to promote the process of collaboration, producing and recording a song. It interests us how artists work and negotiate musical ideas in order to reach a common goal. We are happy to present you the result of this session by introducing the song Calliope.
